Elderly Queensland couple die in home elevator tragedy in Ayr

An elderly couple have died after being thrown from an elevator in their north Queensland home.
Emergency services were called to the home in Ayr around midday on Wednesday after the lift malfunctioned and threw them onto the concrete floor, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said
The woman, in her 70s, and her husband, in his 80s, both suffered critical head injuries and were rushed to Townsville University Hospital but were unable to be revived.
They died overnight.
