According to a study published on Thursday by the JAMA Network Open, e-cigarette consumers have a 30% higher risk of developing respiratory diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma, than non-consumers.
The risk for these chronic diseases is 31% higher among current e-cigarette users than among non-users, while former e-cigarette users have a 28% higher risk, according to the data.
