‘Dramatic change’: Ex-NBN Co executive says 5G is behind government NBN upgrade – Sydney Morning Herald
A former NBN Co executive has argued that NBN Co’s upgrade plans are designed to fight against the growth of 5G wireless services.
“They changed pretty dramatically in the last two years … the question is what has changed. They’ve talked about COVID and that is one factor but the key thing is the competition from the wireless companies is about to ramp up and they need a differentiator,” he said. The new 5G network will power more capable, faster fixed wireless services, which are delivered via signals beamed from mobile towers to equipment attached to homes and business.
