Dr Tony Holohan had stern words for the nation this evening as a move to Level Three coronavirus restrictions was on the cards.
As another 518 Covid-19 cases were announced, the returning Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health said there had been a “significant and concerning deterioration” of the virus situation in Ireland.
The top doctor had stepped down in July when he tragically revealed his wife had entered palliative care after an ongoing cancer battle.
