Double murder trial of Murray Deakin begins in NSW Supreme Court

The New South Wales Supreme Court has heard that a 22-year-old man who fatally stabbed his grandmother before killing a retired police officer with a hammer was prone to violent outbursts.

Murray Deakin, 22, is charged with the murders of Gail Winner, 69, and Michael Horne, 54, as well as causing grievous bodily harm to his 71-year-old grandfather, Thomas Winner.
