Democrats opened Donald Trump’s historic second impeachment trial by showing a graphic video of the deadly attack on the United States Congress that came soon after the then-president told his supporters to “fight like hell” against his election defeat.

The 13-minute video starts with Mr Trump’s speech to fans near the White House on January 6 during which he told them, “we are going to walk down — and I’ll be there with you — we’re going to walk down to the Capitol”.
