They made it to their second birthday and from the 21st of June 2021 the team at “Make It Tenterfield” are celebrating with pottery, life drawing classes, eco dyeing, crochet demos and printing workshops all week. Plus, if you spend over $10 or become a new member and go in the draw for a gift pack of their work. “Make It Tenterfield” customers come from far and wide to see their unique displays of arts and crafts. It may be their loyal following of locals looking for that special piece of art or tourists passing through town looking for a unique souvenir, there is something for everyone. Since their humble beginnings two years ago they have had incredibly generous community support, especially from the legendary Brian Smith, owner of Mitre 10 in the heart of

Tenterfield’s main street. Stroll into Mitre 10, just past the shovels and hammers, take to the stairs and discover a treasure trove collective of arts, crafts, and up-cycling from talented makers around Tenterfield Shire. Two years have whizzed by, and “Make It” is well entrenched in the local community and here are just a few of their exciting achievements.

Fire, drought, and floods have seen the “Makeiteers” set up “Buy a Bale” and the Fire Department Art Auction to support the community. Workshops -During these past two years Make It Tenterfield has been able to secure free funding for kids and adults’ workshops (Stronger Country Communities and FRRR) that have been extremely popular. Sculpture Trail- Make It Tenterfield is very excited to be unveiling a Sculpture Trail along Tenterfield Creek later in the year. Sure to be a feature attraction of this historic town. Community Spirit – In just over two years the team of art and craft members have been strongly involved in the Tenterfield Shire community. The dream of the Make It Tenterfield’s board and members is to have an accessible and forever home for the local creative community and visitors to our historic town. Empowering our local creative talent in Tenterfield is something generations to come will benefit from. If it’s a painting or a lampshade, a sculpture or spectacular wearable art, Make It Tenterfield is proud of everything we have achieved and the legacy they are creating. They are Make it Tenterfield after all. Head on up and see them sometime, they’ve got something really cool to show you.
