My first introduction to what is now known as the Souls series was with 2011s Dark Souls. It did not go over well. I was sent a media kit for its release, and knowing absolutely nothing about it I fired up the game. During the opening tutorial level, I stumbled my way into a room where I came face-to-face with Dark Souls first nasty boss: the Asylum Demon.
