Dangerous thunderstorm in south-east Qld dumps 95mm in one hour

About 15 calls between the Redlands and Logan were in relation to vehicles being trapped in floodwaters, with people having to climb onto the car’s roofs for safety.
Two female patients were trapped on Pitt Road and Collingwood Road at Birkdale, less than 10 minutes after another woman was rescued from her flooded vehicle on Springacre Road at Thornlands just after 7.30pm on Tuesday.
Two people in a vehicle at Pimpama were also stuck in flood waters on Pimpama Jacobs Well Road just after 9pm.
All were uninjured.
SES were also called to 11 tasks in Townsville and eight in Cairns while Tropical Cyclone Kimi headed offshore for help with sandbagging.
