Cyber attack downs Telstra network, affecting thousands of internet users – Sydney Morning Herald
A cyber attack has brought down the critical internet address books that help run Telstra’s network, resulting in thousands of people across Australia reporting outages on Sunday morning.

“When we’re comfortable that we’ve blocked all of the malicious traffic, we’ll get services back up and running,” the spokesperson said, repeating the assurance that customer information wasn’t at risk.
Telstra’s outages.telstra.com.au website, where it informs customers of downtime, also appeared down on Sunday.
In Sydney, the issue has been most widely reported in the inner west and inner city, according to real-time outage website Down Detector.
