Cup handicapper’s working draft published in website glitch – The Age
Weight-for-age champion Verry Elleegant will carry 55kg in this year’s Melbourne Cup, the most a mare has carried since Makybe Diva, if a Racing Australia website glitch is anything to go by.
Should she run, it will be the most a mare has carried since Makybe Diva, who carried 55.5kg in 2004 and 58kg in 2005, and no mare has placed in the Cup since then.
However, on Wednesday afternoon, Carpenter said “the working draft of handicap ratings that was inadvertently published by Racing Australia is not the most recent”.
