On the back of a miserable weekend for Australian rugby, the sight of seeing three Australian locks play in Europes showpiece rugby tournament was a grim reality.
Not just any three either, with walk-up Wallabies Rory Arnold and Will Skelton going toe to toe at the home of rugby at Twickenham for French powerhouses La Rochelle and Toulouse.
Closer to home, Sean McMahons Suntory, missing fellow Wallaby Samu Kerevi, lost to Robbie Deans Panasonic in the Top League final.
