Crematorium limit lifted to deal with backlog of dead bodies in Los Angeles

A limit on the number of cremations which can be performed in Los Angeles has been lifted, as thousands of dead bodies lie in hospitals due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Los Angeles authorities place a monthly limit on the number of bodies a crematorium can burn in the city and surrounding areas to preserve air quality.
But the coronavirus pandemic meant there were more bodies in hospital than would normally be allowed to be burned.
