Brisbane face a fierce battle to keep young gun Tom Dearden amid reports he flew to Townsville for talks with the North Queensland Cowboys.
The Courier Mail and Channel 9 reported on Wednesday night the 19-year-old halfback met with Cowboys powerbrokers last weekend, including club legend Johnathan Thurston and coach Todd Payten.
Dearden is one of the hottest prospects in the NRL, with suggestions up to seven clubs interested in signing him amid his contract expiring at the end of the season.
