Turkey records new daily record of over 42,000 COVID-19 cases

Turkey has reported more than 42,000 cases of COVID-19 overnight, a new single-day record for the country.

The new figures pushed the total number of infections to more than 3.4 million. 

This week, the Turkish health ministry reinstated weekend lockdown across most of the country and announced restrictions over the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Turkey’s overall confirmed death toll rose to nearly 31,900 with 179 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
