Latest Australia COVID-19 vaccine update – a domestic trial for a COVID vaccine failed after side effects were discovered.
A trial by University of Queensland scientists found the vaccine they were working on generated antibodies that triggered false-positive HIV tests.
The vaccine, which would have been distributed by pharmaceutical giant CSL, has been ditched as a result.
UQs vaccine trial head Dr Paul Young said the team was devastated.
The last 11 months we’ve been living and breathing this particular project, he said in statement.
