COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy higher among disability support workers amid concern over safety and side effects

With a cheerful personality and enthusiasm for work, Anmol Panna has become a favourite with her clients during the pandemic. 

The nursing graduate began her job as a disability support worker in September and chose the role because she “loves helping others”.

“It runs in my family,” she said. “My grandma was a nurse and my [dad] was a pharmacist back home.” 

Ms Panna migrated from India to Australia when she was 16 and lives at home with her parents in south-western Sydney.  

She has seven clients around the city — some of society’s most vulnerable people.
