COVID-19: Suspected ‘weak’ historic coronavirus case being investigated, four new cases in MIQ – Newshub
It marks New Zealand’s first possible case outside of an MIQ facility in three weeks.
The spokesperson says precautionary measures are being taken, and the individual has now been transferred to an MIQ facility in Wellington.
They explained cases such as this one can emerge after a person contracts a respiratory illness that is not COVID-19, such as a cold or the flu.
“As we have seen with other cases, individuals can return weak positive tests if they have been infected earlier in the year. This case follows a typical pattern of what we have seen in other historical cases.
