This further emphasizes the higher rate of mortality in COVID-19 compared to influenza.

A global network study looking at more than 34000 COVID-19 hospitalized patients and over 84000 hospitalized influenza patients from 2014-2019 found the former to be more likely to be younger, have fewer comorbidities and lower medication use than the latter.
The study was done by the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) community and the results were published in Nature Communications.
