COVID-19 fragments found in Ipswich wastewater, sparking concern of unknown cases
A recent sample of wastewater taken in Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, has been found to contain COVID-19 fragments.
The results mean a “very real possibility” there are undetected cases of the virus in the south-east Queensland city, chief health officer Jeannette Young says.
“We are uncertain about the cause of the positive result,” she said of the sample taken on October 22 on Wednesday.
