Couple hospitalised after being spooked by spider on Sydney river
A couple boating on the Hawkesbury River in Sydney’s North West on Saturday afternoon have had a lucky escape after a spider spooked them so badly they crashed into an embankment, with a 32-year-woman thrown several metres.
A 30-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman were badly injured when they briefly lost control of their boat on the river at Sackville North just after 3:00pm.
NSW Ambulance Acting Duty Operations Manager Inspector Peter Van Praag said it all happened so quickly.
“It appears the pair were spooked by an unwelcome spider that came down from the roof of the boat.” Inspector Van Praag said.
“They were distracted by the spider and next thing they looked up and crashed into the bank.”
