Cost of living increases to stay below 1pc into 2021 – The Australian Financial Review
Inflation is expected to stay below 1 per cent for a year, keeping the cost of living at record lows.
But they expect a wind up of government subsidies, such as the $312 million free childcare, and higher fuel prices from a decline in global oil inventories will lift inflation gradually back into positive territory.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison was cautious not to claim the deflation numbers as an easing in household financial pressures, instead suggesting the COVID-19 crisis had created the extraordinary fall off in prices.
