The man visited the Pyrmont casino on Saturday, July 4 from around 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
The Star is working closely with NSW Health to respond to this information, including the conduct of contact tracing (which includes staff members), the casino said.
The casino reopened on July 1 with restrictions in place.
Since the restricted opening, The Star has had a COVID Safe plan in place, meaning it is cleaned comprehensively daily.
The plan incorporates spatial distancing measures, and hygiene and cleaning measures across the property including extensive intra-day cleaning and a daily comprehensive clean during a property shutdown between 6am and 10am, the group said.
NSW Health is not requiring anyone to self-isolate but they are asking for people to monitor their health and be tested if they experience flu-like symptoms, the Star Casino added in a later statement.
New South Wales Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant provided some further details of the case to reporters on Monday.
My understanding was the person had no symptoms when he attended the Star Casino, she said.
And may well have not been infectious – it is sometimes unclear.
She also added that he mostly stayed within his group.
We also advised that he was largely maintained within his group and really did not interact with anyone else, Chant said.
The news comes after NSW recorded a further 14 cases on Monday.
The emerging cluster linked to the Crossroads Hotel in Casula has also expanded again.
Eight of Mondays cases comprise five people who attended the hotel and three close contacts of people whod been there.
The other cases are four people who are returned travellers in hotel quarantine and two cases who had acquired coronavirus in Victoria.
