Melbourne man and Perth woman attempt to escape hotel quarantine
A Melbourne man and a Perth woman have been arrested by police after escaping hotel quarantine.
The man was arrested on Boxing Day after attempting to leave his room without permission, police said.
The 24-year-old was arrested in front of the hotel after he left the room about 2:45pm.
He was “returned to his room without further incident”, a police spokesman said.
A spokesman for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) said the man arrived in Victoria from NSW on December 21 and was placed into hotel quarantine as a Sydney resident.
“The resident was transferred to complex care accommodation last night,” a DJCS spokesman said on Sunday morning.
