Although less accurate than standard swab tests, rapid COVID tests that report in 15 minutes could be very useful should Australia be hit by a third wave.
We were particularly interested in whether we could upscale the use of these tests rapidly, and whether we could identify what was needed to implement them on a large scale in previously low prevalence setting, says Professor Deborah Williamson, who led the study.
One thing weve learned is that we have to be prepared and the best time to prepare is in peace time, because the situation can change in days.
