Controversial contaminated soil dump proposed for Bacchus Marsh may be blocked

A plan to dump millions of tonnes of contaminated spoil on a regional town’s doorstep could be thwarted by the Victorian Parliament, after locals expressed outrage at the State Government’s decision to approve the storage site in their town.

Spoil from the $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel has been earmarked to be stored at several Victorian sites, including Maddingley Brown Coal in Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne.
