Consumer watchdog loses appeal over Woolworths ‘eco’ picnicware – Sydney Morning Herald

Woolworths did not mislead consumers by describing its “eco” disposable picnicware as biodegradable and compostable, an appeal court found.

The Federal Court heard evidence the products, made out of material derived from fermented corn starch, sugarcane and sorghum stalks, could turn into usable compost within six months in well-managed conditions, but may take up to two years in poorer conditions.
