Commissioner says youth justice system working despite ‘frustrations’
The 14-year-old and 16-year-old boys were denied bail ahead of their court appearances, while a 12-year-old girl who was also charged has been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
Three police officers received minor injuries in the incident, with two being treated for minor whiplash, while a third officer suffered a concussion and was due to be released from hospital on Sunday.
The incident comes in the wake of public debate on the issue of youth crime, sparked by the tragic deaths of a young couple at Alexandra Hills last week, after they were hit by an out of control car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old.
