Commentator clashes with ref on live TV after ‘terrible’ stoppage leaves UFC world in shock – Fox Sports
Late stoppages are not a newly controversial subject in the UFC, but things reached tipping point on Sunday (AEST) after a commentator lambasted referee Herb Dean for allowing a fight to continue longer than it should have run.
A lightweight contest between Francisco Trinaldo and Jai Herbert exploded in the third round with what should have been a walk-off knockout not exactly playing out that way.
Herbert, who was on debut, looked great; right up until a massive left hand from Trinaldo landed. The punch caught Herbert on the forehead, as he stumbled back, before crashing to the canvas in a heap.
