Mr Howitt said more than 20 countries now had patent boxes, including France which has a company tax rate of 33 per cent, but taxes profits from IP at 10 per cent.
The government is doing good things to encourage manufacturing, but its important for the government to look at the whole environment.
Lots of countries now have 10 per cent tax rates on profits from IP and its a competitive race between nations. Businesses with IP are mobile and they choose where they go.
