Coal prices surge on NSW weather disruptions – The Australian Financial Review
Top quality thermal coal prices are above $US100 for the first time since 2018 on signs disruptions to the Hunter Valley are more extensive than first thought.

NSW is one of the few places in the world that can produce large volumes of coal with energy content above 6000 kilocalories per kilogram and Wood Mackenzies Asia-Pacific head of coal Rory Simington said prices for that type of coal have rallied to $US105 per tonne this week.
That was the highest price since October 2018 and more than double the $US49 per tonne that was being paid for the same type of coal in August.
