Co-sleeping dangers highlighted by Queensland newborn deaths in state coroner reports

A newborn Queensland baby “laughed for the first time” hours before he died in a co-sleeping tragedy.

Findings into the child’s death and that of another newborn have been released by the Queensland coroner’s office to raise awareness of the dangers co-sleeping and parental drug use.

The mothers of both the eight-week-old boy in August 2015 and 11-week-old girl in April 2016 had issues with drug use, state deputy coroner Jane Bentley found.
