When it comes to racing grand finals some stables have a habit of always coming to the fore and yet again it was Hawkes Racing.
The father and sons training team of John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes saddled up two runners in the Golden Rose and they recorded a one-two while the hot favourite Rothfire finished out of the placings – albeit with a serious excuse.
The track was rated a good (4) before the first then upgraded to a good (3) after the opener.
