‘Clear and present danger’: PNG outbreak becomes a major concern for Australia

Australia is mobilising support for Papua New Guinea which is in the midst of a worsening coronavirus outbreak that poses a “clear and present danger” to both nations.
Some islands in the Torres Strait are just a short dinghy ride from PNG, leaving residents feeling vulnerable to the outbreak. (ABC image).
Prime Minister Scott Morrison is on Wednesday expected to confirm his government will send vaccines to PNG for frontline health workers and offer logistical support.
PNG is identifying about 100 new cases a day and has recorded 2269 cases since March 9….
