CityCat ferries to re-use Indigenous names on new Brisbane vessels

A Brisbane City Council plan to continue using a list of Indigenous words to name its CityCat fleet has prompted calls for a better process to ensure organisations could consult properly with Traditional Owners.

The council began naming its fleet of 22 CityCats with Indigenous place names in 1996 from a list compiled by a council historian in consultation with the Indigenous community at the time.
