Christmas reunions in limbo after decision on WA-SA border delayed following Sydney coronavirus outbreak

West Australians hoping for a Christmas Day reunion with relatives from South Australia are facing an anxious wait for the resumption of quarantine-free travel to WA.
Key points:
- SA relatives of West Australians hope to be allowed in on Christmas Day
- A decision on quarantine-free travel between the two states is imminent
- Airport arrivals to Perth from Sydney have slowed to a trickle
The SA border was shut down just days after it reopened to WA in November, because of a COVID-19 cluster in Adelaide.
Under current arrangements, SA travellers can enter WA as long as they complete 14 days’ mandatory quarantine.
