Christian Johnston moves to GS chairman; Sims, Fletcher co-heads of IB – The Australian Financial Review
Goldman Sachs Australia’s head of investment banking Christian Johnston is set to move to a chairman’s role, paving the way for Nick Sims and Zac Fletcher to lead the advisory business.
It’s a significant shuffling on the decks at Goldman Sachs, which has one of Australia’s biggest investment banking teams with 130-odd bankers.
The firm is ranked No.1 in Austraila and NZ announced M&A this year, according to Dealogic data, and is No.3 on the equity capital markets league table.
It’s a big move for Johnston, who has run Goldman Sachs’ local investment banking team since 2007, and whose client list includes BHP, Oil Search, Wesfarmers and AMP Ltd, among others.
