Cats to challenge Hawkins ban – The Age
Geelong will challenge Tom Hawkins’ latest suspension at the tribunal as teammate Mitch Duncan explained the veteran’s behaviour as “white line fever”.
The bad news for the Cats was amplified when West Coast gun Elliot Yeo had his one-match ban for striking Collingwood’s Rupert Wills overturned at the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night, leaving Yeo free to take on Geelong.
Hawkins’ suspension for striking West Coast’s Will Schofield in last year’s semi-final arguably cost the Cats a grand final berth, with the dual premiership star missing the preliminary against Richmond, a match Geelong lost by just 19 points.
