Scientists in Argentina have unearthed the well-preserved skull of a meat-eating dinosaur that roamed northern Patagonia about 85 million years ago.

  • Scientists say the carnivorous dinosaur grew to around around 5 metres long
  • In the local native Mapuche language, Llukalkan means “one who causes fear”
  • It was well-preserved, allowing scientists to conduct thorough studies on the braincase

Fossils revealed a beast with a short snout, keen hearing and stout bite strength that made it a daunting predator.
