A chemical compound extracted from cannabis used to treat a number of health issues including pain and insomnia can be bought over the counter for the first time in Australia from Monday.
Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, will be available in pharmacies from February 1 after the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved its sale last month.
It will be available only to adults in doses of no more than 150 milligrams per day.
