Bowel cancer is the second commonest malignancy in men and women, excluding nonmelanoma skin cancer. It affects one in 11 men and one in 16 women by the age of 85, and it’s also the second highest cause of cancer deaths, yet it’s preventable, and we have a national bowel cancer screening program which involves two-yearly screening of people aged between 50 and 74.
