Burnt body of woman found in Gold Coast backyard after explosion
He said a 35-year-old man who was found two blocks away from the scene, on a lawn at Langer Place, was taken to hospital under police guard and officers were yet to speak with him.
Superintendent Ahearn said they believed the man might have been in a previous relationship with the woman. However, police were yet to determine her identity.
The man was in a serious condition with burns to his hands and internal burns.
“We are in the early stages … the male person has a number of injuries, including some burn injuries on him, so obviously that’s of interest into the investigation,” he said.
“The female person also has burn injuries, so we’re exploring the possibility of a connection between the two.”
