British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tightens borders to keep out new COVID-19 strains

The United Kingdom will tighten its border controls to block new variants of COVID-19, suspending all “travel corridor” arrangements, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.
Key points:
- The rule changes come into force at 4am (local time) on Monday
- All passengers will have to isolate for 10 days, unless they test negative after five
- A variant first discovered in England has proved to be more transmissible
