Brisbane’s worst suburbs for food safety

Rounding out the top 10 suburbs were Woolloongabba (19), Inala (18), Calamvale (16) and Sunnybank Hills (16).
Indooroopilly and South Brisbane, which made the top 10 in 2019, managed to improve their record in 2020.
Suburbs such as Bardon, Wooloowin, Red Hill, Sumner and Shorncliffe had zero complaints.
Councillor Kim Marx, who chairs the Community Health and Safety Committee, said council insisted businesses met strict food-safety standards.
“It’s important to recognise that complaints received do not directly mean there is a confirmed food-safety breach,” she said.
“But every complaint made to council about food safety is followed up with an on-site inspection, and food businesses are not allowed to continue operating if…
