Brisbane woman allegedly coughs spit on police during lockdown
A Brisbane woman who allegedly coughed saliva on a police officer has been charged with offences including serious assault.
A 38-year-old Kalinga woman was charged after police attended an incident at Upper Roma Street in Brisbane’s CBD about 6pm on Monday.
The callout was an hour after greater Brisbane was forced into a three-day lockdown, with residents mandated to wear masks due to growing COVID-19 community transmission.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the woman was unco-operative and turned and coughed, causing spit to hit an officer’s face.
The officer was a 33-year-old senior constable.
The woman was charged with serious assault of a police officer, obstructing police and possessing utensils.
