With a move from the MCG seemingly inevitable, it would be morally bankrupt of the AFL to move the competition elsewhere but Brisbane for its grandest occasion.
Placing to one side the devastating prospect for Victoria of a grand final build-up away from Melbourne and an empty MCG on grand final day, the case for Brisbane’s Gabba should prove a lay down misere. It has been said many times but cannot be overstated: Queensland has saved the AFL season.
