Boy in induced coma after being struck by wheel in alleged burnout breakdown

“The boy was not breathing at the time and had to be resuscitated before being transported,” Sergeant Greg Price told media on Thursday. “Currently he is in the Queensland Children’s Hospital in an induced coma.”

He said Mr Jennings-Davey, who police alleged did not have a driver’s licence, appeared to be in shock and while there were cameras at the intersection, none had captured the “absolute madness” of the incident.

Detectives investigating how the wheel separated from the vehicle have appealed for anyone who might have mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward.
