Body of missing swimmer found at the Gold Coast
The body of a 25-year-old Brisbane man who failed to return to shore after a swim with friends during end-of-the-year celebrations has been found.
The man went missing at Surfers Paradise about 2.30am on Sunday, while there were rough conditions in the water.

The body was found at Mermaid Beach near Seashell Avenue just after 9am on Monday.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
His friends made it to shore in the early hours, with one man taken to hospital, while a woman was treated but required no medical help.
The search effort included water police, Volunteer Marine Rescue and surf lifesavers.
