BlueScope Steel tells IPC that South32 coal mine expansion ‘critical’ to its survival

BlueScope Steel has backed the expansion of a coal mine in New South Wales, saying the project is “critical” to the survival of its Australian operations.

The Independent Planning Commission (IPC) is considering whether to approve South32’s plans to extend the life of its Dendrobium colliery, west of Wollongong, until 2048.
