Black tie or bust: glamour returns at the Oscars – Sydney Morning Herald
Carey Mulligan came as an Oscar, red and white were major colour trends and there was a lot of navel gazing – and navels.

As far as colour trends went, Viola Davis Alexander McQueen gown, in Dulux Vivid White, was a standout. White suffragette suits were also an early key look (Diane Warren, Tiara Thomas) but when it came to red, bigger was better, led by Amanda Seyfried, in a space-taking cherry Armani ballgown (with a cameo from unofficial sponsor Booby Tape).
